To be able to accomplish such diverse activities, ACPAS has assembled multi-disciplinary, and multi-sectorial professionals: ranging from academia, entrepreneurship, to the media. Our think-thank is well endowed with, economists, financial analysts, marketers and entrepreneurs; together with biological and food scientists, statisticians, engineers, and journalists (Refer to the profiles of our members at our team page). With such crack and accomplished professionals, who are well motivated to make a mark in the society, ACPAS is very competent and capable of achieving the set objectives.

PRINCE KORANTENG KUMI

Exective Director

Prince Koranteng Kumi is a Senior Lecturer at the Accountancy and Finance Department of the Accra Technical University (ATU); and a renowned Entrepreneur. He is the Group Chairman of the Village of Opportunities (VOOPs) group. The VOOPs group include Opportunities Montessori School (OMS), the VOOPs farms, and the VOOPs Susu Enterprise. Prince Koranteng Kumi is also the Founder, and the Executive Director of the African Centre for Poverty Alleviation (ACPAS).

He holds an MPhil in Finance (University of Professional Studies, Accra), MPhil in Geography and resource Development (University of Ghana, Legon, Accra); Executive Master in Business Administration, EMBA (Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, GIMPA, Accra); and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Geography (Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, Kumasi). He is also a Fellow, of the Institute of Chattered Economists of Ghana (ICEG).

Prince was the CEO, of the Institute of Certified Economists of Ghana, now Institute of Chattered Economists of Ghana, ICEG from 2012 to 2016; and the District Population Officer for the National Population Council of Ghana from 2008 to 2010.

Prince Kumi is an active researcher, with research interest in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinancing, informal entrepreneurship, business ethics, and food security. He has to his credit ten (10) research publications in refereed journals. Prince is people oriented, creative, critical thinker and a visionary. His dream is to help the youth, the poor, and the other vulnerable members of the society gain employment and income for decent livelihood.

MARTIN OWUSU AMOAMAH

Director

Martin has an academic background in Industrial Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi, Ghana; and Statistics from the University of Cape Coast and the University of Ghana. His working experience started as an instructor in Statistics at Accra Technical University (ATU) in November, 1998. He rose to become a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in October, 2004 and then a Senior Lecturer in July, 2014.

During his twenty-three year long career at ATU (1998 – Date), he has gained extensive experience in higher  education especially in educational design and innovation, curriculum development, teaching, quality assurance and policy advice.Aside teaching Mathematics and Statistics in the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Martin was appointed Head of the Computer Unit in March, 2009, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in September, 2010, and became the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences and Arts in January, 2016.

He became the first Director at the Business Development Directorate of ATU in April, 2013 until July, 2016. He was appointed the Director for Quality Assurance and Academic Planning (QAAP) in November, 2018, a position he held until December, 2020. As the Director of QAAP, Martin was a member of the Academic Board, Quality Assurance Committee, Planning and Resources Committee, Admissions Board, Budget Committee and the University Examinations Board.

 

At the QAAP Directorate his work included developing strategies for setting up standards/quality benchmarks for all academic and administrative activities of the Institution, managing standards and quality related activities of the University, monitoring and evaluating standard measures of the institution as well as maintaining an up-to-date database on the accreditation status of all academic programmes.

His affection for students’ activities, including their welfare made him apply for the position of the Dean of Students’ Affairs, and was appointed as such in January, 2021. He is primarily responsible for the welfare of the Junior Members in the University.

Martin has about fifteen published research work in the area of Statistical Modelling and its related field. He has attended several conferences, both as a participant and a presenter, and has international experience in Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Malaysia, Germany and the Netherlands. His hobbies include playing Scrabble, Football, Teaching and Reading.

EDWARD NYARKOH

Mr. Edward Nyarko is the Head of Business News, GBC News and the host of GBC News business flagship programme, “Market Avenue”. He’s also a multiple award winning journalist, and have travelled extensively across the world covering programmes such as the UN General Assembly, Heads of State summit of the African Union, ECOWAS, Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific as well as the World Bank and the IMF annual meetings. He holds a Master’s degree in journalism and has practiced journalism since 1998. He’s married with three children and also a preacher on Accra based radio, Sunny FM, 88.7 since 2006 which is usually aired on weekends.

GLENN KWABENA GYIMAH (PhD)

Director

Glenn Kwabena Gyimah is a Lecturer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Accra Technical University, a Partner and Head of Engineering Design, Research and Project Management, Africa Environmental Sanitation Consult Limited.

He holds a PhD in Mechanical Design and Theory (South China University of Technology), Masters in Mechanical Design and Theory (South China University of Technology), MBA in Human Resource Management (University of Ghana) and a HND in Mechanical Engineering, Production option (Accra Polytechnic now Accra Technical University). He is a certified Member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), a registered member of Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) of UK, Ghana Institute of Engineers (GhIE) of Ghana and Member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Hong Kong.

Glenn has over 10 years’ experience in the engineering industry, academic training and research, management, industrial research and innovation in government institutions and private businesses in China, Hong Kong, Europe and Ghana.

Glenn was the Chair of the Auto-Tribology of the 4th International Tribology Symposium of IFToMM & 1st Korea Tribology International Symposium, 2017, Jeju, Korea. He serves on National Mirror Committee (Ghana Standard Authority), a member of ISO/TC 323 Circular Economy – Framework, Principles, Terminology, and Management System Standard (Active in WG1, WG2 and WG4) – International Standard Organization (ISO) and a member of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) United for Smart Sustainable City (U4SSC). Thematic Group: Developing ICT Procurement Guidelines for Smart Sustainable Cities.

Glenn’s research focuses on Tribology: Friction, Wear and Lubrication; Conventional and Non-conventional manufacturing systems; Materials Engineering; Production planning and control; Wastewater and feacal treatment systems; Solid waste treatment systems and Quality control and assurance. Dr. Glenn is well-read with over fifteen (17) referred journal, book chapter and conference publications.

Dr. Glenn is a people-oriented person and believes in teamwork. He has the prerequisite skills in keeping with a deeper commitment to both colleagues and students; seeks to provide colleagues and students with opportunities for their personal development and growth, while remaining highly open to new ideas and creative thinking.

In addition to his academic career and credentials, Dr. Glenn has a rich consulting experience, both local and international. He has worked extensively with the Liquid and Solid waste sectors in Ghana, Austria, Netherlands and China on Engineering Design, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning. He has worked on Waste to energy project with Aker energy of Norway in Ghana. Dr. Glenn has worked on UNIDO project funded by Global Environment Facility to “Establishing a circular economy framework for the plastics sector in Ghana”. As a mechanical engineer, he provides efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from small component designs to extremely large plants and machinery. His scope of expertise covers all stages of process and product, from research and development to design and manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. Dr. Glenn is a Research Fellow of the International Earth Conservation (IEC) of Ghana and Africa Centre for Infrastructure Development of Ghana. His desire is to serve God, his heavenly Father, his family, Country and the World by positively influencing his generation with exemplary leadership and life-long learning attitudes.

BISMARK OSEI

Member

Bismark Osei is a lecturer at Zenith University College at department of accounting and finance. Moreover, a former lecturer at GIMPA, where I was handling econometrics. In addition, he has taught in the following institutions; Entrepreneurship Training Institute (ETI), University of Cape Coast (distance learning) and University of Ghana (distance of learning). He holds master of philosophy and bachelor of arts in economics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the department of Economics at the University of Ghana. Courses read during these programmes include; econometrics, macroeconomics, microeconomics, monetary economics, health economics and international economics.

He holds certificates in the following courses; financial markets (University of Yale), Understanding of financial markets (University of Florida), The power of macroeconomics (University of California), Securing investment return in the long run (University of Geneva), Portfolio and risk management (University of Geneva), Fundamental of project planning and management (University of Virginia), Personal and family planning (University of Florida). In addition, he has four publications to his credit. Bismark is self-motivated, independent minded, hardworking and a goal oriented young man with a lot of ambitions. He always seeks to use his acquired knowledge in micro and macroeconomics, econometrics, statistics, mathematics for economics and experience in research in an environment with a passion for excellence. Moreover, he has a sense of commitment to duty, excellent communication, very resolute and also have good interpersonal relations.

PAUL APPIAH-KONADU

Member

Paul Appiah-Konadu is a PhD. Candidate in CSR and Sustainability at the University of Brescia in Italy, and a Doctoral Research Fellow at the LBS Sustainability Center, Lagos-Nigeria. He was a lecturer of economics at Marshalls University, Ghana (2015- 2018) and Wisconsin International University College (2018).

He holds a Master of Philosophy (Mphil) Economics degree from the University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Arts (BA.) Economics degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He has been a member of the Center for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) since 2019. Paul has also been a memebr of the Internations Econometric Society since 2013 and presented conference papers at the Africa Meetingd of the Africa Econpmetric Society at Algiers, (2017) and Cotonou- Benin (20218). 

Paul has over 6 years’ experience in academic training and research at the university level. He has 12 research article publications in peer reviewed journals and 1 research article and 4 book chapters undergoing academic review for publication. Paul’s research work focuses on areas such as energy economics, trade impact on the environment, sustainable development issues in emerging markets, sustainable finance among others.

Aside Academic research, Paul has research consulting experience in Ghana and Nigeria and has consulted on projects such as interventions for agriculture value chain development (Nigeria), development of a toolkit for philanthropic investments in agriculture and light manufacturing sectors (Nigeria), aid impacts on the environment (Ghana) and long-term growth impacts on the living conditions of people (Ghana).

Paul is a versatile, result-oriented and self-motivated gentleman who has a passion to advance poverty reduction through sustainability/ESG integration among businesses in Africa and other developing regions.
